Long before selling out arenas and racking up Grammy nominations, Noah Kahan played an intimate show on the beach in Rye, NY—one of those rare moments that early fans still talk about.
In the summer of 2022, as part of 107.1 The Peak’s Summer Sessions, Kahan took the stage at The Barley Beach House, delivering a raw, emotional set just steps from the water. The performance, set against a golden-hour backdrop, felt like a secret show for those lucky enough to be there. But thanks to The 914 Collective, the moment was captured and shared, preserving a piece of Westchester music history.
The audio production was led by Sam Stauff, director of the recording studio at Mercy University, with the help of Mercy students who assisted in capturing the sound for the session. Meanwhile, The 914 Collective handled video production, bringing Kahan’s heartfelt lyrics and folk-infused sound to life for those who couldn’t be there in person.
At the time, Kahan was already gaining traction, but few could have predicted just how massive he’d become. Looking back, this Rye performance feels even more special—one of those “I was there before he blew up” moments that fans will always hold onto.
